CAT PHOTOS
It has come to my attention that I have been remiss in posting cat photos. HAVE A BUNCH. And some commentary.
These range from August til now and are in chronological order.

The ginourmous cantaloupe we got from the CSA one week.

Sora being annoyed at D.Va for flopping her tail in his face. Notwithstanding that he MANY TIMES laid down near Nefer and flopped his tail in her face.
D.Va tends to sit funny. We told the vet, who poked and prodded her hindquarters and watched her walk and said she could see nothing wrong with her. So apparently she just sits that way. After the business with having to get her anal glands expressed, I do wonder if she got used to sitting that way because it takes pressure off of them? She's been sitting this way ever since we got her, and it was 4 months later before she started scooting her butt, licking her hind end overmuch and other things that tell you there's a problem. Anyway, we're keeping an eye on her.

A better view of Sora on my laptop. We had to block off the back of it because he LOOOOVES the heat from the fan and I caught him hugging it, causing my laptop to dangerously overheat. XD

SORA PLAYING WITH D.VA'S TAIL!!! This lasted 5 min or so, and I've seen it on two different evenings. Yay!
THERE IS NO CAT HERE. NONE AT ALL.

D.Va helping this German dude renovate a tiny house. (It's surprisingly soothing to watch.)
Sora cramming himself onto the blanket I use in the evening. We started a new ritual of spending 30-60 minutes in this room, sitting and reading, before bed in an attempt to sleep better. Seems to be working. Anyway, Sora took to it like a duck to water and now if it's 9:30 or so and I haven't gone in there, he comes to wherever I am and yells at me.
This is Sora's "I vant to sit on you, cherie" look.
Sora, disgruntled that I am not letting him sit on me.
D.Va is addicted to the Cat Games YouTube channel. Every timemyrialux or I go into the media room, she comes in and yells at us, hoping that we'll turn it on for her.
D.Va also likes washi tape. (She likes to chew on squidgey things.) When I moved my washi tape holder (it is by no means full--I don't have that much!), I put some sacrificial rolls on the side closest to the table, which turned out well. She fished one out, carried it off, and every so often it surfaces again. Her favorite game with it is to carry it to the top of the couch, drop it between the back and the seat cushion, and then fish it out again.

And again on the laptop. He's pretty much sleeping all day, either here, in a basket under the top portion of the desk, on the red chair, or in one of the two cat houses in the main bedroom.
D.Va, trying to play with the cord of the blinds. I gotmyrialux to clip it to the top with a binder clip because she was so wild with it I was afraid she was going to hurt herself.

Sora jumping up on the TV console table to see what all the fuss with the Cat Games Youtube channel is about. He sniffed the animated hamster, then dismissed it. D.Va kept trying to catch it. Sora did show more interest in the sound bar, because of the high-pitched squeaking coming from it, but not enough to make him try to catch anything.
D.Va all puffy from something. Every time she gets startled, she puffs her tail up. (Sora just panick and runs; I haven't seen his tail puffy for years.) She's even startled herself accidentally and puffed up. Just an hour or so ago, I set my phone down behind her while scratching her chin, and she must not have seen my movement, because she jumped and puffed up.

This is her favorite spot to sit and supervise while we cook. The towel is covering up a jigsaw puzzle, but it works as a cat seat.

She'll sit onmyrialux's lap occasionally when he kicks his feet up on his desk.
Play fighting! Sora and D.Va play fight a LOT in the evenings. There is almost no hissing--we rarely hear it--unlike when Nefer and Sora used to do it. I think that Nefer was in too much pain from her arthritis, so didn't like roughhousing. D.Va loves roughhousing, and over the past few months Sora has come out of his shell and started playing with her. Yay! He still spends the day pretty much asleep, mostly in the main bedroom, but we're happy to see him active.
D.Va grooms him every so often--usually in the morning--and I've even seen him groom HER once! This is unusual--I only ever saw him groom Nefer once, and it was, like, two licks. He gave D.Va several. Fingers crossed they'll keep getting along!
A photo I took today, of her dozing with her chin on the windowsill. She didn't realize I was there, and jumped a little after I took this. Oops. Didn't startle her badly enough to get puffy, though.
Then she rolled over and started purring, and put her paw on my hand, so all was right with the world.

I didn't know there was a Cat Games youtube channel! I'll try it. Mine likes, no loooooves, cats on TV. He will watch the Cat Tales program from PBS from start to finish, even the weird diagram parts with cat silhouettes. He likes all the people holding cats, gesturing as they talk about cats, etc., and he is engrossed by the cats themselves doing cat things. I guess some part of him misses the cattery life still.

Sora ignores the TV unless there's birds on, in which case he'll watch. D.Va watches other cats, but not all the time.
We had a cat when I was growing up who'd watch COWS of all things! We also lived out in the country and she liked to accompany my mom to the end of the drive to get the mail, and then she'd sit there and watch the cows in the pasture across the road.
