Engrish report: Saiyuki Reload Gunlock Ep. 3

Took in some more Engrish while eating dinner. I'm being sort of vague about what's going on in the scenes these are from, since it's currently following manga continuity and I know people don't want to be spoiled. I'll be a bit more clear about situations once the story takes a left turn into WTFland, as I have been reliably assured it does.

Guy whose name I didn't catch, as Sanzo points his gun: That sword! ... The bullet is stuck! I can't button it up!

As a complement to Yaone's name being "Eight hundred mice" in the first episode, Dokugakuji is referred to as "In the corner" in this one.

Do you think "Dokugakuji" actually translates to "in the corner?"

I hope so. I have this vision of some student who's studying English in college and is just fluent enough to be able to catch most of what's going on, who hasn't been given a copy of the video, just a copy of the script, sitting there late into the night with his pencil and a dictionary.

The script being in Chinese, having been translated from the Japanese by the student who lives next door.

Is that No-Name guy that you're talking about in Gunlock the one with the purple hair who puts them all into a weird mind-world where they're suddenly helpless and strange things begin to happen? It's killing me, I can't remember his name either, but I thought he was actually kinda cute. Haha.

I think I have the same badly-subbed HK import of Gunlock as you do, because I remember some of these quotes. :)

If I remember the kanji correctly - doku = only/alone, gaku = corner/horn, and ji = generic suffix for everything from boys to steamed dumplings. Of course, since 角子 = corner when it's not being used in names..

I think, actually, it could also translate to lonely only horn.

If you've read the comments on my first post on Gunlock, you'll know the story of Rabbi Sanzo and the Fuck-Monkey of Asgard from the HK subs of the original series, which is far, far funnier than anything I've seen in this set so far. XD
