Two more nonsensical lines from Gunlock ep 1.

"It will definitely harm our little cup and us the villagers."

Said by Hakkai ... well, there was this stupid subplot about bears where the guys were pretty stupid and the bears were pretty stupid, and it was all pretty damn stupid and there's no point in talking any more about it; just admire that line out of context. Not that it made much more sense in context.

"Corner mountain?"

Said by Yaone to Doku. I suppose if he's going to call her "Eight Hundred Mice" she's entitled to spout totally random things ever so often.

"Corner mountain?"

It is entirely plausible that the Kou-ikkou could be bored enough to be playing pool with the landscape. Lirin would want to be the 8-ball.

Our little cup? *tries to understand how that worked its way into the translation*

This is giving me "all your base" flashbacks...

I think it was a misspelling of "cub," actually, since there was this bear cub that Hakkai was holding at the time, you see, but I have no idea why Hakkai is declaring solidarity with the villagers when there were, actually, no villagers present in the story.

Yeah, that subplot was totally on crack, and throughly unbelieveable, because I can't figure out why none of the group felt themselves able to take on a bear after dispatching hundreds and hundreds of crazy, rampaging youkai.

Eight... hundred... XD You're watching HK bootlegs, aren't you? Those are always good for a laugh.

Gosh, whatever gave you that idea? XD

Oh, man, I remember the thing with the bears. Gunlock really is on crack, isn't it? And it doesn't even have the fun bits at the end like Reload.

I always said that Gensomaden Saiyuki had a budget of $24 and pizza for the animators, and for Reload, they took away the pizza. They obviously took away the $24 for Gunlock, and were forced to get the homeless guy down the road to write it in exchange for a shower.

That sounds about right.

But but but there was a whole thing in the manga about how Sanzo as a child could turn back bears--

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-10-14 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
And he wasn't turning them back! He was running like hell away from them! The entire Sanzo-ikkou was running! I don't get why they'd run instead of turning around and whomping the hell out of the bears. Sanzo even tried to shoot one while running, and totally missed. (And barely missed Goku, since he was behind Sanzo at the time.)

Yes exactly! I was saying that the whole time I was watching that episode. Blasphemy against Kouryuu, it is!

Apparently the aforementioned non-existent budget means they couldn't afford to acquire the manga or the previous anime series for the writers to read or watch so they could actually have a clue about the backstory and canon characterization.

whoever in the world translated that, must have just ran word-for-word program on it.

Or...they weren't that fluent in English ._.

Or both. XD
