inkstone] In a burst of enthusiasim for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, someone (someones) has rendered the flags of the world as hot anime dudes in clothing and armor inspired by traditional Japanese clothing.

A few highlights:

Canada has pelts, of course. XD

Italy is scruffy with flirtatious attitude

Mexico's pretty awesome, with their golden eagle

I really like South Africa

Switzerland has a GIANT CROSS-SPEAR

(I'm annoyed that Indonesia's images aren't loading for me. :( )

Hopefully they continue until all of the countries have their own rep. :)

I love that Canada's arrows are fletched with maple leaves and that Italy has a tomato and basil (I think?) on his breastplate.

I hadn't even noticed the maple leaf fletching! XD

Haha! Oh man, I just saw that they added Vietnam and he's an onmyouji!

Hahaha, awesome! And he's got little tiger-y shikigami! XD

edit: I have to love the machine translation of part of Vietnam's writeup on the homepage: "Embody the granary with Mekong Delta Power!" That sounds like an attack name that he's shouting.

If international beauty pageants used these as their National Costume segments, I'd be way more likely to watch.

Right? I would watch the hell out of that.

There actually is a series, Hetalia, about personified countries, but they're not hot like that.

I want Scandinavia and the World-type snarking! From Hot Italy, slouching in a cafe complaining that the espresso is not up to his standards!

One of my Hetalia fans notes that many of them are based at least loosely on the Hetalia country versions, though. Similar hair colors and themes abound.
