You ever have one of those days where you're trying to clean up your web directory and accidentally delete EVERYTHING? And don't realize it for two days?

Yeah, it's not been a good weekend. I was trying to delete about ten old subdirectories and I don't know what happened but the rest also went.

The generator sites are back up now, as those were the most-used sites and I had a very fresh backup, and everything else was ancient (like a decade-plus old ancient) so I'm just not going to bother with it. I don't think anyone will notice; very old posts of mine on LJ and DW might have the pictures gone, but given that I was hosting them on Photobucket prior to that and those are definitely gone and nobody's complained to me...

Anyway, so yeah.

It was the cherry on the top of the week--earlier I'd found that somehow, I guess in the move from our old backup solution to our new backup solution (but I can't be sure), my cover files from 2015-2017 went bye-bye. So I don't have the layered .psds from those years, nor the cover paintings. Because I email the final versions to my clients, I at least have those, but if anyone from those years needs me to make a square audiobook cover, I get to re-create the cove and HOPEFULLY find the model stock photos.

And then the Amazon thing as well, and work stuff keeps getting piled on me at the dayjob and YEAH NOT FUN. I get to see Hamilton this weekend, but that also comes with my mother visiting--we get along fine most of the time but it's still stress.

In conclusion: ARG.

In high school (?), I learned to use vi and troff on my father's mainframe at work to type up a huge report. Vi helpfully made lots of backups. So near the end, I thought I'd clean up some of the backups. My filename wild card was too wild, so I lost my main copy..
