Human physical variety...

...is quite fascinating. I just experienced two extremes being introduced to each other by a mutual friend. The first guy was a very very thin, very tall (I'm thinking well over 6 feet, maybe 6'10" or so), very young-faced (round cheeks, snub nose, dimples), black (that very dark, charcoal-tinted black that always reminds me of the East Africans I knew as a kid) student meet another one, who was much shorter (over a foot shorter), very stocky (not fat at all, but well-built, muscular, and stocky, and he's wearing a sleeveless athletics shirt so it makes me think 'wrestler'), with sandy brown spiky hair and glasses, and a much older face with a heavier jawline and brow ridge, and lightly-tanned white skin.

If I were an alien seeing these two as my only examples, I'd seriously be wondering by appearances if the hairless apes came in more than one species.

Or maybe the hairless apes are sexually dimorphic and you've got a matched breeding pair? (Hmm...wonder which one is which?)

Depends on whether you're a yaoi fan or not, I guess. *rimshot*

Hey - dunno if you've read the ConDFW post I made about the science track we're thinking about doing, but (a) are you thinking about coming up to the con next year and (b) if so, would you mind sitting on a panel and yapping about the shuttle? No promises or anything - we're still in the planning stages and looking around for potential panel ideas. If the science track ends up happening, we'd probably comp you a badge in return for it. :D

Yaoi fan or not, methinks our hypothetical aliens would be a bit disappointed at the resultant lack of progeny.

Life at Chez Tygerr continues as chaotically as usual. I have no idea right now if I'll be at ConDFW or not. And I've never been on a panel before, so no guarantees regarding the quality of my performance. But that said, your offer gives Happy Strokes to my Inner Attention Slut. As does the idea of a comped badge. ;-)

Cool. :D I figured that what with the house and all there's no way you'd be making any sort of plans that far in advance. Anyway, if all else fails, you could either get up there and say "Hey, I work on the shuttle! What do you want to know?" and go from there, or we could put together a "Nifty NASA" panel with you and a friend of ours who's a meteorologist with NASA (or maybe a meteorologist with a company who contracts to NASA - I'm not entirely sure, because there's even another friend who works for NASA or is contracted to NASA and I may be mixing them up. MORE THAN YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW) and you guys could blather on about it.

:D
