I HAVE JUST SEEN MORE ANIME VIDEOS IN A ROW THAN I EVER HAVE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE

Today I helped judge the AMVs for the AnimeFest AMV contest. Um. What can I say about that except that DEAR GOD THAT WAS TOO MANY IN A ROW.

Post exclusive to LJ as Dreamwidth went down for maintenance just as I clicked "post". DOn't you feel special?

aw man, does that make it hard to judge the last ones? Maybe they should break it up so you've got a fresh eye for all of them.

Nope. There's comparatively few fine shades of difference between them - it's usually fairly obvious early on what score you're going to give each one. We only re-watched five of them, two of them to distinguish which one was getting second place in one category, and three to decide on third place in a different category - the rest were pretty obvious who was a winner and who wasn't.

But we watch them all the way to the end because per the rules we're obliged to do so, and because we have to check for content - they're going to be broadcast on closed-circuit TV throughout the con* and on a large screen at the awards ceremony, so we have to be fairly strict about profanity, sexual content**, and video quality.

* I think.

** As the main judge said, they prefer to have the nipples in the first few seconds of the video, so they can disqualify it early and don't have to finish watching it.

LMFAO!! Oh lordy ; ; well at least it's not stiff competition though. That's a pity in some ways.
