Eesh

Stayed home from work today due to what was either a very short stomach bug or a bit of food poisoning. Woke me up at 6 AM and was finally better about 3. Which is good, since I'm scheduled to be on the Ref desk all day Saturday and have a party to go to that night.

And I have just discovered that the Campbell's Soup-on-the-Go things in tomato soup variety are just as good as dumping a can in a pot and adding milk to make tomato soup when it comes to comfort-food purposes.* And had grilled-cheese sammiches** with it.*** My stomach feels better and so does my soul.

No serious point for posting this, except that I haven't posted six jillion times today, thus, I am sure, making all of you think I've dropped dead. And now I shall go make brownies from my Small-Batch Baking book, and have them with a scoop of lactose-free ice cream when they're done, and then I shall poke the cat until she gets angry.

ETA: My friend [livejournal.com profile] bpggle just reviewed BPAL's Golden Priapus. You guys should go friend him and comment on his entries and convince him he should post on LJ more.

* The stuff from the pot tastes slightly better, but having no cleanup other than tossing it into the trash totally trumps the slight flavor difference.

** The correct spelling for comfort food.

*** Well, with a goodly amount of Lact-Aid type pills; no point in celebrating recovering from a stomach bug by inducing stomach problems.

So what books have you read, and how were they?

Is the Ref desk having you work six days a week?

The Ref desk is ahving me work seven days this week - I worked last Sunday, one hour each weekday (well, except for me getting sick today), and then Saturday.

We have to do about four weekend days each per semester, but we get to take it in comp time, so now that I've worked last Sunday and tomorrow, I can take two days off. I'm taking next Friday off because I have to go visit my grandparents, and the other one is banked against OH GOD I HAVE NO TIME I MUST TAKE A DAY OFF AND WORK ON ART time.

Oh, and books - I actually spent most of the day watching television, alternately going "I think I'm feeling better now" and "ooooooooooooooooooo, no I'm not." I did re-read my COMIC ARTISTS ASIA: MANGA MANWHA MANHUA book, which has a collection of art plus short interviews with teh artists on how they did the art. And finished the latest Shonen Jump. And read at a couple of the library books. And then, once I got to feeling better, got thoroughly disgusted with the state of the kitchen and refrigerator and cleaned like mad.

And washed a light beige bathmat with a dark maroune area rug and turned it a lovely dusty rose/purple color. Which I much prefer to the original, actually. It's the one that the cat's bowl sits on, because she doesn't eat over the bowl but takes a kibble and eats it over the floor next to the bowl.

She hates the bathmat, though, and sometimes tends to streeeeeeetch her neck to get the kibble, then backs up off the bathmat and eats it over the carpet. XD

What library books did you read and what did you think of them?

And now I shall go make brownies from my Small-Batch Baking book

That sounds like a book I need to put on my to-buy list.

It's a great book. SO far I've only made the brownies, but I intend to get around to the other recipes Any Day Now.
