Sora would do this if he could get away with it. He loves putting his paws on my face, and periodically I have to re-train him not to do it by yeeping and putting my hands on my face when he puts a paw there. (I don't want him touching my face because litterbox. I don't know why other people let their cats paw their faces or kiss their pawpads if you are one of them I DON'T WANT TO KNOW. REALLY.)

My last cat would do this for waking people up. Pat pat pat. She tended to go for the nose.

Sora's occasionally woken me up like that, but not in recent memory. I think he finally understands that if I'm asleep and he wakes me up, I am NOT happy.
