Take 2!

HERE is my real new office!*

From the entrance!

If you look closely at the window, you see the blinds disappearing into the wall on the left. They only go in about 6" or so and there's a sound barrier between my office and the next office. The windows were there previously, and for some reason money they didn't either take them out or fit the office walls to the mullions between the windows.

The wall with the whiteboard!

The view from behind the desk!

The comments about designing/decorating from the previous post still stand. I like teh idea of a rug in there.

That desk is a sit/stand one, BTW. I've already got a chef's mat in my current office, since I occasionally stack my keyboard on risers and try to stand for a while, so it'll come in handy with the new desk.

*If you'd already read my previous entry: I went back upstairs to ponder the layout once more, and met my boss there, who told me that he'd switched the offices around since the last time I'd seen plans, because he remembered I didn't like to be the one closest to the door. So the new office has none of the problems of the previous one. Well, ok, there's still an inexplicable amount of linear filing space, but it's no longer in my way.

Oooh, a door. I'm jealous. I haven't had a door since I moved to Lockheed.

Previous to the office I'm in now, I shared a large room that had 3 cube in it. Our backs were set up to face the door of the room. AAARRGH. I think the thinking was "There's a window in this room! Everyone should be able to look out of it!" but AAARGH BACK TO DOOR.

I was in a corner of an open-plan office at one job. I had my back to everyone and it drove me nuts.

Ugh! We were the closest office to the loading dock door, which meant that vendors and workmen were constantly dropping by and asking us to swipe our IDs to open the door for them. It was a major contributor to my asking for a different office when I did.

I was just exposed to people employed by our small publishing company's small office space, but one of those people was the manic and frankly evil owner of the company. Having her suddenly behind you was not fun.

This is almost identical to the office my assigned job program person has! Even the window behind the desk. But without the annoying as hell wire hole right where I have to fill-out paperwork on the front top of the desk.

You'd think they'd supply clipboards or something to write on!

A lot of it is like big question charts like map sized, but it's really annoying.
