I've only clipped Cloud's claws once and she struggled and made a pathetic yowl, but I was able to get her to stay for the experience. She's...kind of not a very assertive cat. Or, in the words of the nice lady at the adoption place, "Wow, she's pretty submissive."
I've clipped Nefer's claws, but I have to get her when she's relaxed and not moving, and can only get a couple at a time, otherwise she struggles too much.
I do need to clip them again--she makes little tick-tick-tick noises as she's walking across the floor.
I've spent a lot of time painstakingly getting my cat to associate me playing with her claws with her getting treats, but that just means she yowls piteously and tries to ooze away instead of having a panic attack and biting my hands. It's hard work. But it's also just... the way I have to do things.
I've interacted with cats chill enough that when they were both sitting on big pillows, I was able to pick up one pillow with the cat still on it and put it on top of the other cat. Multiple times, even. (There would be a pause and then the cat on the bottom would wiggle out and look confused.) But I'm pretty sure they wouldn't stand for having a thing attached to their heads.
