Sora's booted Nefer off the bed at night and taken over her spot next to me, the ingrate! Although I think Nefer doesn't like the ceiling fan--she's always tended to find a different place to sleep in the summer once we turned the fan on, so I'm not too worried about Sora bullying her,

Hmm, ours seems indifferent to the ceiling fan so far but we haven't had them on for much time so far. Must keep an eye on it.

We evicted Cloud from the bedroom at night after it turned out that she liked to mew pitifully at 4 a.m. I could have dealt with it since I wake up a zillion times in the night anyway, but Joe has actual regular work hours and hates having his sleep interrupted. :D Poor kitty.

Oh yeah...that dark-of-the-night yowling! Nefer likes to carry around a toy and yowl. We try to ignore her if it's the middle of the night, but it's not always successful--Toby's caught me meowing back at her when I was asleep!

Also, having Cloud may break me of getting up to check email in the middle of the night, which is a bad habit anyway. Because Cloud mews pitifully for attention, hops up into my lap, and then purrs up a storm, and I am so far almost completely unable to evict a purring cat from my lap. I'm so weak...*weeps* The best thing is to just not go out to the computer in the middle of the night in the first place.

Purring and sleeping cats emit a gravitational force that renders humans unable to move. Last night, Nefer was sleeping next to me on the couch in the media room, on top of two blankets, and although I was freezing (we turn the A/C low at night, otherwise I get nightmares or can't sleep), I got up and got an unfortunately thin sweater rather than evict her from the blankets.
