LEEKS!

So here is Toby, DWARFED BY LEEKS.

BUT WAIT, I hear you say! (Yes, I hear you through the internet.) YOU ARE HOLDING THE LEEKS CLOSE TO YOU WHILE TOBY IS ACROSS THE ROOM! THIS IS NOT AN EXAMPLE OF GIGANTIC LEEKS, BUT OF PARALLAX!

Well, in that case, I present you with this...

THOSE ARE STILL SOME BIG LEEKS.

Those are really big leeks!

Have you ever made porrata? It is leek and bacon pie held together with eggs. If you are a leek fan, you want to try that one. (I have a recipe for leek and roquefort tart around here somewhere too.)

Wow, Attack of the Giant Leeks!!!

We had no particular plans for a recipe that included leeks when we went to the store, but after we saw the GIANT LEEKS we had to get them.

We ended up finding a Leek, Potato, and Bacon Bake which was fine, though not spectacular. (Bonus, though, is that Toby's getting another wisdom tooth out today, and we can just blend the leftovers and add chicken broth, milk, or cream to produce an acceptable potato-leek soup if he wants it.)

I find this Farfetch'd. I know, I am hilarious!

Anyway, moving on... Is that a Star Trek themed apron?

Yes, it is! (http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/f45b/) I gave it to Toby for Christmas a year or so back, first asking him the mysterious question "Command, Science, or Engineering?" and of course he picked Engineering, and then wondered about that question for a few weeks until Christmas. XD

It looks very cool. I'd be tempted, but I have a bad habit of forgetting to put one on before I manage to stain or otherwise ruin my clothing. It may be just the thing for my housemate though when she gets the urge to bake. :)

We have aprons now because we got tired of having to toss clothes that we couldn't get the stains out of. :)
