Cat just barfed. Normal. Totally silently - I only knew because I happened to look over as she was so doing. Unusual. And, since she was sitting on a piece of furniture underneath a window in a corner blocked in by other furniture, right into the space between the item of furniture and the wall, where I cannot get to it. Bloody typical.

ETA: And has just unloaded again onto the middle of the carpet, but at least I can get to it.

ETA2: And investigating behind the item of furniture, which I can see but not reach, reveals that this is not the first time she has done so. *sigh*

Yup. On the bright side she's actually been sleeping on my bed of late, and otherwise exhibiting signs that she actually finds my presence pleasant and acknowledges me as an individual other than Keeper of the Treats, so I'm not as tempted to boot her into next week as I might be. XD

Ewww. My cats both barf frequently too, but I find that doing three things reduces the frequency: fanatical brushing, feeding them anti-hairball dry food, and feeding them an anti-hairball formula called Petromalt.

I feed mine these hairball treats (she hates Petromalt with a passion and there's a stain on my carpet from when I tried to make her take it by putting it on her paw and she was having none of that) along with clean-your-teeth treats, and I also feed her a mix of hairball and diet food (she dislikes the diet hairball food, go fig) because she's on the pudgy side from the treats, but have been out of the hairball food for a few days, and she's thrown up three times now.

Guess I'm hitting the pet store tomorrow, huh? Well, I need to get more litter anyway.

This sounds like a longhair cat problem. I had a longhair, and during the moulting months - wheee-hooo!!! loads of furry, slimy little barf-babies on my mother's favourite persian rug. Cats always know best when it comes to premium spots to let loose their inner fur buildup. I'd agree that loads of grooming helps the cat not vomit so much. But they'll still do it to you occasionally just to spite you...

Try not to feed exclusively canned food. That also seemed to be a factor with my cat's slimy moments.

She's a shorthair. XD I also don't give her canned food - I'm paranoid about cat's teeth since a childhood cat had to be put down after she had a badly infected tooth (she was 16, so it's not like she was young, but this was before cat teeth-cleaning was routinely offered by vets). So she gets hard food and tooth-cleaning treats.

Anyway, the vet's suggested she might have irritable bowel syndrome, so I'll probably need to talk to her about it again next time I take the cat in.

My cat lived 'till she was almost 18...she suffered kidney failure which was FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!!! as it involved her developing an almost primal need to vent her bladder every few minutes. She had tooth problems too - lost a canine at a very early age, giving her a lopsided smile. Bleh, I miss my cat. My mother doesn't, on account of the aforementioned persian rug.

Some furball medicines can exacerbate a bowel problem, as they can force waste to go down rather than up. So yep - I would go to the vet at that point...

It's hard to say - at the last checkup, she didn't ahve blood in her stool, and the vet said that since the hairball treats seemed to stop her barfing, then she was probably OK. I've also discovered that she's probably allergic to pork - she's eaten it twice and upchucked shortly after it both times, so I don't give it to her anymore. Which is too bad because it's the only meat she actually begs for. XD Poor sad kitty!

Your cat is extremely similar to mine (*thinks me should make a post about Sally with pictures included*). I agree with everyone that is just simply a hairball problem. My cat does it too. I feed my cat with dry food (for indoor cat)...she loves that thing, but I also alternate that dry food with wet food. I buy those Friskies packages (Tuna and Chicken only). She prefers the dry food, but I make her eat wet food as well because a 100% dry food diet is not good for cat's health (may end up with kidney and liver problems like a cat I had in the past).

I think you just need to be patience, clean it right off before it becomes hard (and difficult to remove the stains)....

Has anything in her diet changed lately? Sometimes, that can lead to multiple pukings (or, if she's like my demon, eating things she shouldn't....like ribbon...)

You can pick up this stuff at pet stores that's an odor remover that's mostly intended for them doing their business on the carpet, but it works great for this too....it might help keep her from puking repeatedly in that corner if she can't smell that she had.

Yup, ran out of the anti-hairball food. XD She's eating the straight diet food now (since I also feed her hairball and teeth-cleaning treats every day - which she loves - she's getting pudgy, so I mix the anti-hairball and diet food .. I'm going to have to start mixing the anti-hairball and the diet-anti-hairball stuff, I think) and I'm planning on an excursion out to the pet store today to restock on food and litter.

I may have to pick up that odor stuff and see if it works.
