What is it about this cardigan?

No, really: what is it about this sweater? Coworkers tell me all the time that they love it, and I've had total strangers stop me to tell me how much they like it. I mean, I think it's nice, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it, but I'm not quite seeing why so many people are that enamored of it.

Perhaps it exudes pheromones? It can't hurt that it's purple and the school I work at has purple as one of its colors, but overall I think I'm going with the pheromones hypothesis until something better pops up.

ETA: In case anyone wants to know, it's a Joe Brown cardigan that I bought from Simply Be in 2013. I don't see that particular one on sale anymore, but there's others there, and Googling for "Joe Brown's clothing" will get you places that sell non-plus-size versions of the brand, although mostly in the UK. There's some on Amazon too. I'd describe the brand overall as sort of boho/funky.

[personal profile] telophase, I don't even like sweaters as a category (they're fine on other people, I just never wear them myself if I can help it) and that is a gorgeous sweater. I'd wear it if I owned it. Something about the patterns plus the sunsetty colors.

If nothing else, it must exude pheromones through the internet.

It's a nice cardigan and it's unusual. It reminds me a little of Oleana sweaters, having that patchwork effect in a good not bad way.

Love the combination of shawl collar and rounded hem, but probably part of the magic is how it looks specifically *on you*.

There could be multiple reasons. One, people are probably taken by the uniqueness of your cardigan, as most are thin and short. Two, your cardigan may even trigger positive memories. Or, three, people may even wish they had that cardigan out of sincere admiration.

I was just peeking at Joe Brown clothing on Simply Be the other day! I love that sort of clothing, and for some reason, there's not a whole lot of it available in plus sizes. I might take a chance on a shirt at some point, but I'm iffy because I have that Permanent Muffin Top thing going that makes finding clothing that covers that hard as hell.

The Simply Be return process is fairly painless, IIRC. As I'm shaped like a pear, it's really hard to tell what will look good and what won't on me, so I am resigned to ordering a selection of clothing and sending back what doesn't fit. It costs $4.95 (taken off your refund, I think?), but I've accepted that as a convenience cost. (where "convenience" means "I have access to clothing that doesn't exist anywhere in my state, as far as I can tell.")
