The beta test that you threw me on five minutes ago has rendered me unable to read any comments on LJ! Awesome! Exactly what I wanted! How did you ever know?

I've tested removing AdBlock and the Greasemonkey script that stops LJ perma-loading, but they don't seem to affect it. Off to try Ghostery next...

edit: Ah, I forgot I don't have Ghostery installed on my work computer. So that's ruled out!

Beta test? Is that what it is? All I'm seeing is unreadable pages with light grey text on white background, and everything looks like it's greyed out.

Thankfully my flist and the comment pages appear to be working still ... *crosses fingers*

Yup. They're doing their periodic changing up of things, and put you on it ... I can't technically say without consent (when it works) because you get a pop-up window in the page that says, essentially, "Hey! It's a beta test! Click here to go back to the old or hit this button to provide feedback, or click OK to continue!" Only the page is all greyed out before you click OK so you have no idea if it's any good and then the window CONTAINING THE FEEDBACK BUTTON goes away so you can't actually submit any feedback after you look at the site. Awesome!

So, LJ business as usual.

If I had the pop-up I'd have taken myself off the test! Also, I suspect it's Javascript, so c&p might not work.

Argh. I did send in a support request, but I suspect they're currently flooded with requests and it will be on the order of days to get back to me, if I'm lucky.

Also, I tried logging in on another account in another browser, but didn't get a pop-up there either ... just the greyed-out page. Very bizarre.

Yeah, comments appear to be not working on site scheme pages for me either. But ?style=mine is still working. (For now.)

?style=mine and ?style=light are both failing to fix my problem. Bah, twice!

I don't think ?format=light has worked on LJ since forever. Hm, the ?style=mine thing may be dependent on which style/whether you're using custom comment pages - do you have those túrned on?

I ahve LJ set to show me comment pages in LJ default style. I figured giving ?style=mine was worth a try, just to rule out. :)

Do you know where the option to turn off LJ default style for comment pages it? I tried finding it, but it's never in any logical place in the settings. I could probably deal with my f-list's tendency to put light text on dark backgrounds and other style decisions that I would not make myself for the duration. :D (Plus, I have bookmarklets that will zap pages back to black text on white)

I don't believe I was included in the beta testing and it looked like all of LJ simply went down for a while.

Someone on my f-list complained about not being able to read their friends page after being put on the beta test, and less than five minutes later I clicked on a post to read it and BOOM! Welcome to the beta test says the popup! :/

I didn't get the pop-up, but looking around some more, it does seem that I've been "migrated over" to whatever brilliant scheme they're running now. *sigh*

Fwiw, during the outage, I found the representation of a faceless LJ-user image on the LJ page explaining about the unplanned outage both incredibly creepy and perfectly apt (not that the graphic representations of Frank-the-goat with his anatomically incorrect irises are much better...).

I get invisible comments in IE, Chrome and Firefox, so it's not browser-dependent. Bah.

I can't even leave a comment if it's a reply to another comment. I get the creepy goat "unhandled exception" error page.

There's a little speech-bubble with a question mark on the top right of the new profile page: clicking that should get you the popup back, with the option to switch back to the old style.

It wasn't visible on mine, but clicking in the empty space where it should be brought the pop-up back. Restored to previous version, yay!

Of course, LJ isn't showing ANY post pages to me right now; all I get is Frank the Goat. I've decided not to worry about it for the rest of the afternoon, and let LJ coders keep making their changes.

I saw the change on my Nintendo 3DS and panicked this morning. It also refreshed the page twice after I clicked "SWITCH BACK" with it until it went back to decent.
