Well.

Trial over. It was not an easy one, although it was shorter than we expected to start with. We put a repeat sexual predator away for life, and I'm still kinda shaky from the import of that.

(I'm also happy in a way that I'm so shaky, because I don't think I'd like the sort of person I was if a life sentence were easy.)

Toby is taking me out for comfort food now.

You did good.

Thanks. (PS--if your mobile phone got a blip from me yesterday, my phone really wanted me to talk to people other than my mom--I commanded the voice control "Call. Mom. Home." as per usual, and it thought for a moment and said "Calling [chomiji's name]. Mobile." I think I hung up before it connected! After the call to Mom, it attempted to call my mother-in-law, so I dunno.)

Some people just are not fit to be out in society. He proved he was one of them, and you helped stop him from hurting others. It wasn't easy, but it's not supposed to be easy - that's the whole point to a jury of your peers.

Yep. He can appeal, too, if he thinks the verdict is wrong, but we saw plenty of signs that he was not rehabilitated in the least (I'll post a fuller story later today) and the original verdict he got was for only five victims, not the 30 he'd admitted to (again, long story). So we were all pretty sure we wanted this guy never to walk the streets again.
