Local Broadway season

Just got the brochure for the 2013-2014 Broadway season at the AT&T performing Arts Center over in Dallas. There's nothing that makes me go YES YES YES (in other words, nothing that strikes me as interesting enough to make Toby go, because he's highly ambivalent towards musicals. I usually have to convince him the stagecraft will be fantastic or that we know someone in the cast to get him to go).

I am willing to be convinced otherwise. So:

The Book of Mormon
Peter and the Starcatcher
The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess
Godspell
Disney's Beauty and the Beast

(I do kinda want to see the last, just to see how they stage it, but it'll be a hard sell for Toby.)

If Audra McDonald is in the touring company, it is totally worth seeing Porgy and Bess just for her. She blows everyone else on stage away. It is amazing. (Trigger warning for relatively explicit sexual violence, though.)

The Book of Mormon

Whut.

It's a comedy by the South Park guys, and is apparently a satire on religion. It's about Mormons guys on their missionary year who go to Uganda. And, presumably, get their worldview expanded.

...That should be something.
