Does anyone here old enough to remember the 1980s and were in the States at the time remember a perfume/cologne for young women sold in drugstores and grocery stores that had a unicorn on the box? I vaguely seem to remember that the background might have been greenish or yellowish, as if the unicorn were running through a field, and that it might have been in soft focus.
Every so often it comes to mind: I can't remember what it smelled like, but I really liked it at the time, but never bought it at the time because I didn't have the money. My parents' well-meaning attempt to sneakily get the name out of me (because they couldn't remember) for a Christmas present one year failed because they sent my aunt to ask me, who claimed she had a friend that she was thinking of getting some perfume for, and asked me if I had any suggestions, and of course I was not going to suggest something that you got at the grocery store for a present for a grownup!
ETA: I believe I've found it. Toujours Moi Magical Musk, by Max Factor.

ETA: Avon Ultra...? Look on eBay for pictures of the packaging.

edit: Actually, I think I've found it. Why my first web search didn't come up with that, I'll never know.

That product shows how long the 1970s lasted.

Not too long ago I realized that as a responsible adult, I could finally buy the perfume version of Bal a Versailles, when as a teen I could only afford the eau de cologne version, so I bought a tiny bottle of it (which, due to a shipping error, they upgraded to a slightly less tiny bottle for free), and when it arrived I discovered that it smelled like old-lady perfume. There's enough of the scent I remember in there that I uncap it and sniff every so often, but I don't know if they reformulated it, or if it's a difference between the eau de cologne and the perfume, or if I just really liked old-lady perfume as a teen.
I also discovered that I can still only afford the eau de cologne of Opium, so I bought some at the same time. :) Rarely wear it, but it's the thought that counts.

I suspect I had an image of the famous The Last Unicorn cover in my head, fuzzily crossed with that Avon thing. With a touch of Muguet de Bois. Well, it would be an improvement.

It came to mind after reading an Ask Metafilter thread where a commenter remarked that in the early 1980s, teen girls were buying lots of light musk perfume, and I thought about the perfumes I liked at the time, then started wondering about this one.
It seems that it's going on eBay for close to $40. So not worth buying one to discover that I had really awful taste as a teen! (That's assuming the scent hasn't shifted much since whenever it was the bottle was produced.)

I remember thinking Poison was a super awesome perfume just because of the name, but that is really the extent of my experimenting with perfume as a pre/teen.
