The new hotel that ConDFW is going to be at is quite familiar with fan conventions of this sort, as (way) back in the day they hosted A-Kon, and currently hosts FenCon, All-Con, ConDFW, and the Furry Fiesta.

One of the other con comm members sent me this review of the hotel, left by someone whose group was booked there at the same time as the most recent Furry Fiesta.

It's an awesome review, and the general manager who replied is a model of diplomacy. XD

That reminds me of when the same hotel was hosting Yaoicon and the Church of Christ retreat.

The staff seem far more patient and polite than I'd ever (want to) be. I'd probably say something like "I'm sorry that your stay was marred by other hotel guests having fun, perhaps if you learnt to be more tolerant and not take offence at everything you could have fun too!" and then I would be fired. XD

I'd have gone off on him explaining that just because someone's wearing a costume does not mean he's a criminal pervert.

There's a reason I'm not in a public-facing position.

A few years ago (2006 if I recall correctly) Anime Expo was held in Anaheim at the convention center at the same time as some religious gathering. Apparently some of their delegates didn't get the memo that Jesus is love. :/

There was a girl with a beautiful cosplay, and she had these huge feathered wings. Her boyfriend had to help her out so she didn't get them closed in doors. They were on an elevator, and this particularly vile specimen boarded, and freaked out on them - making the girl cry. For what? Wings.

That was the last time that AX was scheduled with... anything else, actually.

Oh good lord.

The one and only Yaoi-Con I attended (I had a professional conference nearby that week, so rolled it into one trip!) had a Church of God meeting overlapping by a day or two. See icon for proof. :)
