Ebook alert!

Cocaine Blues (Phryne Fisher #1), by Kerry Greenwood, is currently free in the Amazon US Kindle store!

I discovered the price after reading [personal profile] meganbmoore's review of the Mrs. Bradley Mysteries TV series and being reminded of Greenwood's series. I'd wanted to try reading the series before, but the books weren't available in ebook format at the time and I've grown averse to buying hard-copy books because I fail to finish so many, and they just pile up, and I'm already out of shelf space.* I checked to see if they were available yet, and ... paydirt!

Oh, and the other books in this series appear to be at very low prices, too, at the moment. I'll ahve to read CB first and grab them all if I like it.

ETA: Now with actual link included!

* A perennial condition no matter what, I admit.

This excites me much more than it should given that I've already read I believe the first 10 books through the library. Hopefully it's a sign as to the likelihood of the TV series getting released in the US.

(Though I should mention that, early on, Greenwood spends a fair bit of time going on about Phryne's amazingly pure white alabaster flawless beautiful pale etc skin, though she gets considerably better about it. I have almost forgotten until it came up again in the last book I read in a rather appropriative way. Greenwood seems to fall into the category of thinking racism is horrible and closeminded, without actually thinking about how racism shapes things beyond overt prejudices.)

I've now read the first book anf bought the second. I didn't notice her going on about Phryne's amazingly beautiful alabaster skin because I was overwhelmed by her going on about how awesome Phryne was in general! Phryne's definitely over-the-top, but I somehow forgive her that because it was entertaining to read.
