Hey LJ why can I not reply to a comment in my own post? Thanks for nothing!

(I click the 'Add a comment' button...nothing happens. Or perhaps the recipient will get 43535643 copies of the reply later this evening from all the times I've clicked the button.)

This happens to me sometimes - it's like LJ thinks you're logged out, but you're not. I have filed a couple of support tickets about this, but got back either nothing or a huge set of demands about how to "test to see if it happens again," which no, I don't have the time or inclination. (Seriously it was like "use three different browsers and turn off all your extensions and accept cookies and tracking and get back to us!") Sometimes if you click on the "switch user" you'll see your username again, and if you click on that it'll log you in again or re-establish your cookie or WTF-ever, and then you can comment. I think their login procedure is fucked.

Yeah, that is....less than thrilling. I don't know if you remember but there was a HUGE flap a while back with people insisting they were randomly getting logged in as other users and LJ saying "No no, it's just your cache! It's our cache! You can't see anything private!" I personally just don't put anything personal on LJ anymore really, which makes me sad, since it was my first online home ever. But it's just not really worth the risk.

DW at least seems okay for now, altho I worry sometimes about how long-term it will survive and how niche it might be. But at least it's probably not going to get sold to various companies who are going to try to remake it into something else and then ditch it when the complaints get annoying (I think US LJ is going to get really revamped in future, and I think they're just going to steamroll over any static they get about it).
