I am hoping to start coloring him tonight.

And the collar is actually his collar *bone*, but I can see where it looks like a collar to everyone, because of the lack of other clues. I think in color it should be more clear that he's not wearing a shirt.

Now I just have to find a clear version of the kanji on his headband...
