Sorry, earthquakes aren't funny. There was no damage in the building I was in, or in a lot of buildings, but there was still damage -- the National Cathedral lost a spire, several buildings downtown and closer to VA were damaged. We've got a lot of crap that was built before building codes cared about earthquakes. What the hell.
Apparently in journalism school it is taught that after any earthquake, a reporter must phone several convenience stores and liquor stores to find one with a lot of broken glass and lost stock. Photos of stuff that has fallen off the shelves are even better!
It is also taught that the journalist must try to find someone who thought it was a truck, possibly a truck hitting the building, and quote them too, and it's really good if you can find someone who thought it was a bomb and get that also.
