State of the telophase
Dec. 30th, 2020 04:13 pmWhat I have been doing recently:
1. A lot of not much, which is more-or-less the plan for the Christmas break.
2. Reading Warhammer 40K books. I have finished all the of the currently extant Ciaphas Cain books (I think...?) and am a good way through the Gaunt's Ghost series. I spent my birthday sitting in a chair reading W40K and it was good. (P.S.
chomiji, I got the book and emailed a thank-you but I'm not sure I had your email correct, if you didn't get it!)
3. My SIL and BIL gave us a subscription to Masterclass for Christmas, which is basically Skillshare for celebrities. However, Apollonia Poilâne of the Poilâne bakery in Paris has a class there on making bread. I have the Poilâne cookbook, and sure enough she steps you through making that recipe, so I watched it and made the bread and while it's not the equivalent of the actual Poilâne loaf* I'm relatively proud of it.

That looks like an enormous loaf because it is an enormous loaf: almost 2kg! We froze half of it and have been eating on the other half for a couple of days. As you can see the corners of the slashed bit got a little burnt, and the loaf was, I think, a bit underproofed (yes, it should have gotten LARGER!), but it's still tasty.
*You can get a loaf overnighted from Paris. I did it for
myrialux for Valentine's Day and for my mom for Mother's Day 2019. It is fantastic bread, though the overnight fees aren't worth getting it for other than special occasions. XD
4.
myrialux made me chocolate cake skulls for my birthday. We have a pan with 6 skull-shaped molds in it, which we bought because I loved but have never used, and Iw as remarking that much as I love it, as we never use it I should really get rid of it. So he remembered it existed and used it.

Five instead of six because he overfilled the molds so only had enough for five. I'm not complaining. They're covered in a sugar-Amaretto glaze. Yum!
5. My sister-in-law also gave me an infinity scarf printed with the words from all the dissents that Ruth Bader Ginsburg wrote. I shall treasure it. :D
