Yesterday I received a very beat-up, taped-together box from a company I ordered some items of clothing from. The UPS tracking info had said there was a delay in shipping the day before due to a "mechanical failure" that was obviously the box getting stuck in some machinery and ripped apart.

This was even more obvious after I opened the box and discovered the 6 items I ordered...and two items that not only did I not order, but which were from a completely different store and not my size. Presumably mine was not the only box involved in the mechanical failure.

My l33t research skillz led me to discover that the two items I got--which didn't have the store name on them--came from Asos UK. Which, oddly, I do actually have an account at. I went onto their website and sent in the contact form explaining that I had a very odd problem and that two items from a different shipping box got stuck in with mine, and I would like to send them back.

The return email apologized for my receiving two items I didn't order, and had copypasta from their returns FAQ which instructed me to use the returns form in the box to send them back.

I replied to that, stressing that as I did not place an order at their store, I did not have a returns form.

The reply to that explained that they could not give me any information on the order as it did not match the information in their system.

I capslocked back that I did not want information on an order, I just wanted to return this stuff that got mistakenly sent to me, and that I wasn't about to pay for return shipping when I didn't place an order in the first place. And that if their system wasn't capable of handling that, please let me know and I would just donate the items to Goodwill.

I have now received a reply from a third customer rep--I assume it got escalated due to capslock--who apologized and said they could indeed handle this, and gave me a URL that I could print a return label from that would ship back for free.

Fingers crossed that it all works and I can get the sweater and hoodie sent back to them. The sweater is orange and navy but looks orange and black, so I hope whoever was supposed to get it can get another one sent out in time for Halloween.
