Excerpt from the Pillow Book of telophase:

1. That feeling when you get after you've finished a very good book and can't get into any other books because they seem so awkward and clunky and thin in comparison.

The book in question is The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison (*coughSarahMonettecough*). I want to start another book but none of the umpty-zillion samples I've downloaded are working for me in comparison.

Ah technology

I was trying to create a survey in Qualtrics when, after I added a new question, it put the wrong answer type up and then refused to let me edit anything. So I ended up with this useful question:



(I was able to fix it by closing it down and ignoring it for a while, then going back today and opening it up and clicking the "Edit" button. It's now letting me edit like nothing happened, so the question has been tweaked a bit and the answer is now a text box.)

So I've signed up for this online course on Bootstrap which is, to put it simplistically, a CSS framework that will hopefully make it easier for me to make the website I'm working on responsive (i.e. change the layout for different devices, so we don't need to maintain separate mobile and desktop sites). The very first section of the course has this:

WHY ARE PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND UNZIP A FILE TRYING TO LEARN BOOTSTRAP? I suppose it's people whose bosses have said "What's this Bootstrap thing everyone's using? We should have it. Go put it on our site" to the person whose web duties consist mainly of typing content into a template someone else has already created.

The downloading was slightly more complex than usual as the link went to a place where you put in your email address (presumably so they can put you on a mailing list, or so they can track who they send links to, or both) and they email the real link to you, but it was pretty simple to follow.
