Isn't it always the way that cats drive you nuts? She's had a sore or something on her elbow since before Thanksgiving that she's been licking at. I've been keeping an eye on it, intending to take her to the vet if it got worse, and it had been about the same until last night when it definitely looked swollen. So I took her in to the vet today.
Verdict: silly cat scraped herself on something, has been licking at it, probably because it stings a bit, and is making it worse herself. No infection, luckily. So I now have a spray to spray on it 3 times a day for the next 4 or 5 days.
She was very good at the vet's, though. Normally they have to zip her up in the bag to do anything to her, but she submitted to having her fur shaved with nary a peep, the vet reported to me. Of course he did it while leaving her in her carrier, where she feels slightly safer when she's not at home.
