OK, not really snow. Ice day, to be more specific. It's lightly rainy and juuust cold enough that bridges are icing over and there's random patches of ice on the roads and therefore all Texas drivers are panicking. They shut the university down at noon - on the last day of classes :D - and sent all us nonessential personnel home with instructions to check the website and/or news tomorrow morning to see if we're open.

I think that we're not shutting so much because of icy weather, but because so many people phoned in and said they didn't want to come in. Heh.

Anyway, I scraped the ice off my car and headed out onto the highway - passing over a bridge that truly was iced up; you could see it on the sidewalk areas - and got on I-30, where I had the strangest and most eerie experience of my life.

Everyone was driving safely. The traffic was light, with plenty of space between cars, and nobody was going over 45 MPH. Nobody was weaving in and out of traffic, tailgating, passing on the right, failing to signal, cutting anyone off, giving anyone else the finger, accelerating madly or braking madly.

I HAVE ENTERED THE TWILIGHT ZONE.
