Via [livejournal.com profile] cawingcrow here -- if anyone in the Houston-ish area (and possibly other cities in Texas) is looking for temp work:
Hi this is Georgia Barri with G.D. Barri & Assc. I have just been
contacted by FEMA to find resources to work at the Houston Astro Dome
and then in the other cites to help set up debit cards thru
processing the victims information so they can help them get clothes,
food, etc. I need about 800 people to process computer data to help
set up debit cards for those in the Dome. I would need them to start
on Tuesday. Contact my office on Monday to get signed on. I can pay
10 to 12 dollars an hour for these people to help the process the
forms. Some will get processed to work in other towns in Texas.

Can any of you help me to find these people. My number is 602-524-
0439 *cell and my work number (I will be there in the morning) is 623-
7730-0410 x3301. Can you send this out in mass to assst us. Thank
you.

Fanart contest with Deleter software as prizes over at Broccoli Books. Characters can be from any Broccoli books, which inclides Di Gi Charat, Galaxy Angel, Juvenile Orion, Until the Full Moon, KAMUI, Aquarian Age, FLCL, I’m Gonna be an Angel, Bushi Lord, Princess Concerto, and Gamers Guardian Fairies.

They're got a coloring contest, too, which makes no sense because you're supposed to color the lineart they provide using Neo Piko markers, and the prize for the winners is a set of Neo Piko markers. *considers using Copics just to annoy them*

Is there a simple one-way hash, salted or not, in VBScript/ASP similar to the ones in PHP to encrypt a string? Barring that, does anyone know of any decent scripts that do the same that I could steal use?

I may not even be able to do that much - this is for a survey this fall, and if I am allowed to to track the people who take it, to prevent them retaking the survey as a number did this past spring, I will need to encrypt their IDs. I may not be allowed to track them; I wasn't this spring. And in that case, we just have to deal with our data being messed up by the idiots people who overlook the "IF YOU AHVE ALREADY TAKEN THIS SURVEY, CLICK ON THIS LINK!!!" message. But I'm hoping that my encryption suggestion will be taken.

telophase: (shikamaru - screw you i'm going home)
I think I'm getting the con crud - sniffling, sneezing, sore throat, very very blah, apathetic feeling. I have to be at a meeting tomorrow morning at work, but I've put in advance notice that I'm probably going home afterwards.

Why can't I ever get sick during the week, and not on the weekends? Invariably whatever I get hits me like a hammer on Saturday and Sunday, and by Monday I'm on the mend.

On the bright side, I FINALLY got the money approved for me to go to the Internet Librarian conference in Monterey in late October, which means I'm indeed going to be at Yaoi-Con.

Won't be selling art there, it seems, since the fan market tables are all sold out, which means that hey, at least I don't have to schlep all my prints there, although this means I'm now operating at a loss for the con (I just sent in a query about art show space, however, so I can hopefully put a few pieces in there). And I need to figure out where the hell I'm going to sleep, since the offer I had seems to have fallen through (i.e., never got back to me). And I need the room from Thursday night through Saturday night. Hm. :/

*whine* *grumble* *moan* *complain* i so don't want to have to figure all this out when I feel like hell...

I just had a horrible thought: I spent the last couple of days setting up swaps for my BPAL imps that I no longer wanted, so I should get new ones starting to arrive ... just as I head into this cold and can't breathe. *whine*

Until then, I'll post four reviews I haven't posted yet.
