...we finally have guests. XD DOn Maitz and Janny Wurts, and we're working on others as we speak.
For those of you in the DFW area, please feel free to pass on this news: we have wrangled with the hotel and with corporate, and have managed to get them to agree to a smoking ban until 7PM on Friday and Saturday, so you can attend panels and eat in the hotel restaurant in peace. And since the smoke takes a while to build up, you'll be able to stay in the bar decently late Friday and Saturday nights.*
I figure that I'll exploit inquire of my friendslist here to add to our list of contacts: if any of you is or knows of a person in the literary SF/F/H field (writer, artist, editor, etc) who wouldn't mind us having their contact info for potentially asking them to be a guest, please let me know (email telophase14 at gmail dot com if you don't want to post it here). This is for general purposes - we may or may not get in contact with you/them this year. :)**
* For those who are unfamiliar with ConDFW, the hotel we use has the bar in the open lobby area, which has a four-floor atrium.
** Random FYI: figuring out con guests is an art. You want to have a good balance of guests, but you also have to deal with - are they going to bring in enough attendees to cover the monetary outlay? And keep in mind that most cons can only afford to cover airfare/hotel/food fees for the major guests.
