(no subject)

In other news today, I woke up with a headache and went to work. It returned, and I decided to finally take my meds now rather than later, when they wouldn't be able to take away the worst of the migraine.

And discovered the hard way that yes, I really do need to have more food on my stomach before taking them. :P When it hit the point that I was camping out in the bathroom in case I threw up, I decided that yes, I really needed to go home. So went home, Toby got food for me, which helped, and then I took a three-hour nap-ish thing.*

Feeling better now, although not 100%. We went out for Thai food, as Toby was craving pad Thai, and I had tilapia with ginger sauce, which was not at all spicy (wasn't sure my stomach could handle spicy), and which was very good.

I guess it's spring, huh?

* I slept some in there, but not sure how much. I listened to podcasts the rest of it.

Heeeeey. Sort of off-topic, but what podcasts do you listen to? I'm always on the lookout for ones to add to my roster.

These are the major ones. I am way behind in most of them, as I've been comfort-listening to Terry Pratchett books instead, for most of my listening time. :)

The Skeptics' Guide to the Universe
Radiolab
KERA's Think
BBC History Magazine
CyberSpeak (I am way behind on this one)
Dan Carlin's Hardcore History
BBC Friday Night Comedy (it alternates every 6-8 weeks between The News Quiz and The Now Show, but they're both the same concept - topical humor on the news)
NPR Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me
Odyssey SF/F Writers' Workshop
Writing Excuses
This American Life
Quackcast

YES I love BBC Friday Night Comedy. I see a few others I already listen to in there as well. :) (If you like This American Life I recommend RISK and the Moth- the former can get pretty R-rated since they sometimes have R-rated themes, but both are fun if you like listening to, well, people's stories.)

I forgot to add Skeptoid, and Anything Ghost and Jim Harold's Campfire - the latter two because while I don't believe in ghosts, I looove hearing ghost stories. XD

I'll check 'em out, thanks!

You can listen to things and otherwise function? Swank!

In migrainey news- aren't you in Texas too? My migraine's been bleeding out my eyes all rotting day. Maybe there's something in the air? Or...or Mexico's invading?* Or something?

*No, no it's not. It's sittin' where it's always been. The air, though, may have Plans.

Most of the time, I can listen to podcasts, and sometimes read - my migraines are primarily the low-pain ANNOYING sorts that just sit there, and drag me down into exhaustion. (I inadvertently discovered last year that artificial sweeteners made them worse - after giving those up, I don't think I've had any of the bad-pain ones, and fewer overall.) If the pain's on one side, I can put the earbud in the other ear and listen. I just can't look at a projective-light screen like a TV or computer monitor. Kindle e-ink is reflective light, so I can read it if it's not too bad.

And I think it's the shifting air pressures that do things to my head. :P
