Dear Diary,

Today I helped Brandon Sanderson rip the backs off of the packages of a bunch of Star Trek figurines. What did you do?

Sincerely,

Since you asked

I spread zincofax ointment on the west end of an east facing llama while she ate. There was some drama. Spit flew but it was a dry spit, her mouth was full of dry feed. Hopefully I won't have to refresh the coat of zincofax for a while. Meanwhile I'm sitting not three feet from a Sanderson book which I intend to read, soon.

I did SCIENCE.

(It was a triumph. Huge success. Hard to overstate my satisfaction.)

I'm not even angry. I'm feeling so sincere right now.

Squeeeeeeeeeee!!!

I love Brandon! I haven't gotten around to reading his books yet, but I'm a huge fan of his podcast!

...

But this is part why I don't go to many conventions, I have uncontrollable squeeling fangirlism, which is not particularly appealing in a large older fellow like myself.

I have a tendency, which I deplore, when in the presence of someone at least somewhat famous, even if I don't particularly care for them or their work, to get somewhat starry-eyed and girlish. Luckily, it mostly consists of standing near and trying to peek at them while attempting to appear as if I'm cool and aloof and not actually trying to stand near and peek at them. I probably look like I have some sort of spastic condition or mild seizure disorder.

I've bounced off a couple of Sanderson's books, and made it through Warbreaker, and overall I like the podcasts better than the books. There's something that doesn't grab me about them. However, one of my favorite genres is the How To Write book, and with the podcast, it's like I get a new chapter of one every week. :D
