More Wordpress

Just spent a good deal of time banging my head against Wordpress and most especially the MU-Helpers plugin.

Mostly writing this out in the hope that it will spur some thought process in my brain. :)

Basically, what I'm trying to do is spiffy up this page, which takes the most recent blog post from each of the blogs on our site and posts it. I'm partway there, in that if a post has one or more images in it, I've dropped a regexp into the page code that pulls out the first image, and then shrinks it to a decent size* and posts it.

It doesn't, however, work with featured images. I've poked at the MU-Helpers plugin and haven't yet found a way in which to either put the featured image URL into the information it returns, or to use the info it returns to pull out the featured image. All the things that seem obvious haven't worked yet. Blargh. Blargh blargh blargh.

(And now I have to stop footling around with WP and go do my other duties on this job!)

* Mind you, only in dimensions. If the blogger uploaded a GIANT-ASS PICTURE, then it's still huge. Luckily most of our readers are on decent connections...

I can't remember what I'm running, but there's a "Custom Fields" area in my WP layout at work, and you put 'thumb' in there and it magically makes a thumbnail image.

This will probably not help at all, but it might shake something up in your brain, so I figured I'd throw it out.
