And what are THESE?

They would be the very first six perfumes I have created!

Mind you I didn't say they're ANY GOOD, after all, they're the first I've created, but I made them and they're mine. :D And I currently have a very limited palette, as I've got less then twenty different fragrance oils (yes, most of them blends, and many of them synthetic; I'm not OMG MUST BE ALL NATURAL about this).

#3 is my favorite, but OF COURSE it's the one with a component I'm mildly allergic to.

I'm not talking about the components just yet because in a couple of weeks, once they've aged a bit, I'm going to ask for someone here who's experienced at sniffing perfumes to give them a whiff and report back to me what they think and for God only kno0w what reason, I don't want them knowing components ahead of time.

The next bit is ... buy more components! And more bottles for it to age in, and more scent strips, etc. etc. etc.

Oh, how cool! I can't wait to hear more.

One of my favorite perfumes right now is a fan-created blend for Riza Hawkeye, "gunsmoke and spiced tea." It is delightful (and also inspirational for FMA fanfic-writing).

I once played with a children's perfume kit that was deeply marked down because some of the vials had spilled some of their contents or evaporated or some damn thing (but since I just wanted to play with it, that was fine). And that was, what, six essential oils and I got totally overwhelmed even trying to think of combinations. But it sounds really neat!

Giving children a perfume kit sounds dangerous...

Quite possibly, but I didn't have any children at the time; I got the perfume kit for myself.

Since I can't edit comment: that is, I got the kit for myself as an adult.

I know. I only said that 'cause you said it was marketed at children... :)

I actually can't remember the age range that the kit gave as appropriate but I think it was aimed at ten-year-olds or something, which at least is probably past the "I will put totally random objects in my mouth and nom on them!" age for the average kid...

Hahaha true. I was more concerned about the potentiality of them getting smelly stuff all over the furniture/carpet/cats. This is why we can't have nice things, etc.

Hee! I wasn't allowed to work with anything that could spill (I was interested in inks) until I left the house for college. At which point I realized I could buy myself a bottle of ink and a brush and go to town as long as I was careful, and my mother couldn't stop me. :-)

I've had two perfume spills in the house and, um, both times it was me. The hallway smelled overpoweringly cranberry-sweet for about a week before it died down...

I am now morbidly curious as to how cats react to being perfumed, but that's not an experiment I'd ever dare try on purpose! (Sadly, do not have any cats anyway.)

When I was a teenager, I opened a bottle of honeysuckle scented oil with, um, too much vigor, and spilled it all over my legs. Fortunately it was summer break... because despite several showers and lots of scrubbing, I stank of honeysuckle for a week.

That increased my caution with scents, let me tell you what.

Oh, that's clever! If I ever, uh, happen across deeply marked-down perfume kits in the future I will have to remember that. :-)

Yay exchange! Man, I am starting to understand how my mom would accumulate crafty stuff, lots and lots of it, because I seem to have the same gene...I'm really looking forward to this. :-)

Where are you getting the components from? Currently I just buy from BPAL based on their ingredient lists, but I'd love to be able to make my own blends.
