Were you the one who posted about thingsfollowingangrycats.com ? I am enjoying that site. I really like the expression on the cat's face in I am annoyed (http://www.thingsfollowingangrycats.com/?p=247) and I went to the flickr photo set that Going for the Gold! (http://www.thingsfollowingangrycats.com/?p=243) came from and enjoyed those cat pictures, especially the one where the cat and dog are swimming and the cat got tired so the dog let it rest its head on its back (http://www.flickr.com/photos/softpaw/190946015/in/set-72057594070349056/)
(That must be a really warm pool, no? Don't cats get cold in water really easily?)
I expect cats do get cold in water easily, but it looks to be warm and sunny outside there, so that the sun would provide some heat. I saw that photoset earlier, and I *think* the person who posted it says they dry the cat off as soon as he gets out of the pool.
That cat looks a lot like it might be part Skogkatt or Maine Coon, too, and those breeds both have really dense, water-resistant insulating coats, and reputations for being much fonder of water than the average kitty.
I went and looked through the set again and skimmed the comments. You're right that it is a Maine Coon. He doesn't like getting his face wet, so he doesn't jump in. Instead, his owners gently place him in the water, and make sure to not dunk him or create big waves. And then they towel him off after he comes out, and try to make sure he is completely dry before taking him inside, because otherwise the air-conditioning gives him problems.
