Let's play Spot the Kitty!
Can you spot the kitty? If you need a hint: It is not one of our cats, but a black and white one belonging to the neighbors.

Did you spot the kitty? Here's the answer.
That's Phelps, a tiny female cat who showed up and adopted out neighbors a couple of years back. She's named after Michael Phelps, the swimmer, because she was thought to be male until she turned out pregnant, and produced two black kittens. They kept the kittens, but they're homebodies and rarely wander over to our yard. Phelps likes to hang out in our yard, and often sits on the lounge chair in the pic above, on the roof of the metal shed behind the house (especially when it's cold, as the roof gets good sun exposure), and, as you can see, on the patio roof. We suspect she's the reason why we periodically find slats on the ground.
Amusing story about her kittens: they didn't want to wean themselves and nursed for 16 weeks, at which point Phelps had had enough and vanished for 3 days, forcing the kittens to make the transition to solid food. She showed back up after that, hissing and swiping at the kittens when they tried to nurse. :) Anyway, Toby and I made friends with her and she lets us scratch her, which I feel especially good about since our neighbor said she's really standoffish and doesn't much like people.
Now on to my cats!

Nefer, forcibly grooming Sora.

Kitty tongue!

Awwwwwww.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Sora, waking up. He's very slow to wake up, and always spends a few minutes with his eyes mostly-closed like this, and blinking a lot. A bit odd for someone as skittish and afraid of life as he is.

Taken last weekend, when I was sick. Note that I'd carefully arranged the couch to enable me to lounge on it, with reading matter within reach, all afternoon while feeling sick and sorry for myself. I got up just for a minute, and...

What
myrialux is holding out to Sora is the lid of the container of Chronic Catnip, a super-potent 'nip. Sora's a total junkie for it.

See?

Nefer appreciates it also. We give it to them on their respective scratching posts partly to create pleasant associations with the posts, and partly because Sora gets mean and paranoid and will attack Nefer if she gets too close while he's stoned. :) Nefer gets playful and drools a lot.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, this is the good stuff.

Ohhhhh, yeah....
