I read somewhere, except I can't remember where, and therefore cannot verify whether this is bullshit or not, that in order to use the Daleks at all the first time around, they had to sign a contract to use them at least once a series. Or something like that.
The Daleks really are the enemy that just won't die and go away. I did like the ones that were wearing the little army pouches. I thought they were adorable.
I think this is the general opinion amongst my friends and we're all hoping they've buggered off for a bit now to try and set up a new empire somewhere.
I just hope you don't have to endure the "OMG! HOW DARE YOU REDESIGN THE DALEKS!!!1!" posts I had to go through after the show aired here. From the outrage I read you'd think that the Dalek's design had never been tweaked before and they were still all stuck in a city with magnetic floors from the very first episode...
S05E01 was awesome. S05E02 and 03 were very blah. S05E04, however, more than made up for them, IMO. For one thing: NO DALEKS. I like the Daleks. I really do. But in the last several seasons they're just freaking everywhere. It's hard to be scary or frightening when they're more common than the postman.
