NOTE TO SELF: When purchasing a loaf of sliced bread from Central Markup, you MUST immediately place half of it into the freezer, as it molds easily, thus, perhaps, depriving you of toast when you really want it. (Compare to the generic grocery store hot dog buns we bought WEEKS ago during a post-migraine comfort food binge*, which I only threw away today after noting the faintest of faint dustings of something that might be mold of some ilk. Those preservatives work!)

Yeah. I pretty much put the entire loaf in the freezer. It is yummy though!

I still can't decide if it's more disturbing to open the refrigerator and see something that's gone moldy and eeuw, or something that you know has been in there for weeks and should have mold but is actually still pristine-looking. :|

Yeah. I've thrown away many a thing that looked suspiciously normal. XD

Yeah, my Trader Joe's bread goes right into the fridge, which I know is Bad For It and all, but I eat nearly all of my bread toasted and my sandwiches warmed, so it doesn't matter...otherwise, as C. is fond of saying, it "explodes into mold!" The Whole Foods stuff last longer, which makes me suspicious.

I am actually suspicious in the reverse direction: I don't trust Trader Joe's food storage practices as much as WF's, because Trader Joe's was the number one suspect in the pantry moth fiasco we had last year.

I can't deal with bread that's been in the fridge - the taste vanishes for me - so the freezer it is.

Provided I remember to put it there.

I live in an apartment complex which was basically built on swamp land. As a result, it can get stupidly humid inside, and pretty much all of my bread has to go into the refrigerator.

I bought a bread box last month, thinking it would help with the problem, and instead it was some kind of insane mold acceleration MACHINE. I've never seen a loaf of bread look like that. I think it's because the box was metal, and the bread box I remember from my childhood that kept things fresher was wooden.

Funnily enough, I also had some generic hot dog buns here from when my little brother came to visit (15 year olds apparently only eat pizza and hot dogs), and it occurred to me as well how long those suckers lasted. WOW.

I wish they sold half-loaves of bread at Trader Joe's sometimes. :)

I would totally buy half-loaves of bread at Central Markup if they sold them. :(

Or just half-sized loaves. I know they make bread pans for smaller loaves; my mother owns some.
