Hee!

The Wait Wait Don't Tell Me staff has discovered the Wait Wait zombie apocalypse fanfic written for Yuletide this year. Sent via their Twitter feed.

(Current hits on the fic: 1166. Waiting to see how high that goes... ETA: Wow. I reload, wait a bit, reload and it jumps. 1362 now.)

I don't listen to "Wait Wait," but the This American Life one to the same prompt (I assume) is terrific.

I'm still reading through the archive, but that's definitely on my rec list when I finally make a post.

Ooh, that is good, too!

I LOVE that WWDTM story! What does the Twitter say? (I can't read it, it's blocked at work.)

And can we expect them to comment on it in this week's show? Because that would be AWESOME.

And now the hit count is up to 2300! I hope someone warns Nestra she's about to be NPR-famous. *g*

That was a great fic, right up there with the Maru the cat fic.

And now the link has been picked up by Boing-Boing. Whee!

I don't know that show, but thanks for the link, I loved the Obama lightsaber image ^^.

It's a fun show. I don't listen to radio on my own, but when a friend turns the car radio to NPR and this show is on, I enjoy it.

The only NPR show I regularly have contact with is Prairie Home Companion ^^, basically because of the CDs Keillor sells. That's the downside of living in Europe.

I know that NPR radio can be internet-streamed worldwide but I just don't listen to the radio while I surf. I'm reading too much to concentrate on that - music is fine, content is not.

You can probably download Wait Wait as a podcast, to listen to when you want if you'd like. I don't know if they limit it to US IP addresses only, or if it's available worldwide, but you can get it via iTunes, if you've got that installed, or directly download it by clicking on the "Subscribe to podcast" (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=35) link and click on the "Download MP3/4" button.

They take the old one down and put the new one up each week.

Ooh, that looks interesting. I like listening to audio stuff that's not music before I turn off the light at night.

NPR's got a bunch of interesting stuff. I also recommend a show produced locally to me for the local NPR station: KERA's Think. Also on iTunes, or downloadable here (http://www.kera.org/audio/think.php). It's an interview show, where the host interviews just about anyone on just about anything, and she actually reads the books before the author comes on the show. :) (They just recently had the winter pledge drive, so the most recent ones are interrupted periodically by 5-8 minutes of yapping about giving money to the station.)

Heh! I was wondering when they'd find that. I wonder if they'll mention on their show. (Suddenly: 10k+ hits).

Do you think they mentioned it on the show?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2010-02-04 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
It got picked up by BoingBoing and the Huffington Post. The show they taped this week airs this weekend, but I don't know which day they tape, so I'm not sure if they'd mention it this weekend or next, if at all. :)
