Today's lunch included a tiny kishu mandarin.
Tasted good: sweet. It's a tiny seedless tangerine/mandarin variety from what I gather on the intartubes. ooh! I just found an article about them.
Today's bento lunch is partially visible in the photo - cherry tomatoes, carrot chips, the kishu, and (being nuked at the time I was taking this photo) peas, and a potato cooked with bacon from a recipe in my new bento cookbook Kawaii Bento Boxes: Cute and Convenient Japanese Meals on the Go
. In one of my new Container Store bento boxes. Turned out pretty good, all things considered.
Also, you can see how dry my hands are. Whee!

BTW would you like (free to good home)a couple of egg molds and some hot dog cutters (crab, penguin, octopus)? My son no longer likes hard boiled eggs and the hot dog forms don't work well on veggie dogs. I keep trying to give them to friends with younger kids but the non-bento curious tend to think I am nuts.
