The other day I discovered that fat arms and an eye-level oven don't mix, especially if the door is not all the way down, and burned the back of my upper arm when reaching in to get a pizza out.

Ow. Ow ow ow ow ow. Second-degree with a little bit of blistering and a spectacular red splotch. Fairly inconvenient too, as short-sleeved shirts fall RIGHT THERE. I've got some large Band-Aid patches to cover it at time, and I leave them off for a while to let it breathe, but either way it's irritated by the fabric of my shirts or the skin around it is irritated by the bandage.

Heal quickly!

You should stop by the store and pick up some aloe gel. Put it in the fridge for a bit before you apply it, but be generous. It'll help the burn heal quicker and numb it to pain surprisingly well. It has to be gel though (I actually prefer the plant itself, but I don't know how well they grow in Texas... it's just a succulent, so it should grow ANYWHERE, but...)

When I was little a hot iron fell on my hand and I had a bad 3rd degree burn 'cause it was there for a while (I was 5 and found I could not move from the pain until the adults heard me screaming and knocked it away.) Ever since then I have worshiped the Aloe Gods, as well I should, for they are merciful and just.

My boyfriend has an aloe plant named Stumpy which we utilized right after it happened. :) I've got some aloe gel (intended for sunburns, but I couldn't find any regular burn stuff), which I occasionally apply and had forgotten to this morning until you reminded me. Thanks! :)

OW!

Do you remember my crazy oven balanced over the stove? I'm sorry to say that I had several run ins with it. It was perfectly designed to burn the, er, boobs. We hates that oven. Hates.

Hope your arm feels better soon!!

I myself had several oven fails this weekend (oh, that's right, glass dishes hold heat longer than aluminum OH YES), but nothing as spectacular as that! Feel better.
