Update on the state of the
telophase
Still no internets.
myrialux is going to be dropping by the property management office today to find out why it's taking so long to get the electrician out.
Cleaned almost everything out of my apartment yesterday, will be going by
myrialux's apartment after work today to put the finishing touches on it.
Had second piano class last week. Still learning the basics, but that's the point of this course. :) Haven't had a chance to set up the MIDI keyboard at home yet, as we needed new cables for my monitors and my keyboard's foot broke, so I had to go buy a new one (RSI in wrists doesn't respond well to flat keyboards.)
Cats getting along better. I caught Nefer grooming Sora last night, which was the first time since we'd moved in. Nefer is taking the move fairly well and getting used to the new house (I think she likes that it's big enough she can escape from Sora if she wants). Sora is getting over his cold, after a scary Friday night when he was going SNEEZESNEEZESNEEZESNEEZE over and over. He's still incredibly skittish - he's always been somewhat skittish, but the new surroundings are emphasizing that personality trait - and acts terrified of
myrialux most of the time, for no reason other than (a) he exists and (b) Sora has to come to terms with the fact that he's not the only man in my life. :) We've instituted a new policy of "
myrialux feeds the cats" so that Sora will ealize that
myrialux is the Food-Bringer. So far, it works as long as
myrialux is holding the bag of food - he's Sora's best friend at that point, but once he puts it down, Sora acts as scared of him as ever.
We emptied most of the kitchen boxes this weekend, and although lots of things are still sitting on the counter before finding a home, lots of other things are put away. Also cooked a real meal for the first time - a whole roasting chicken in the crockpot with garlic, carrots, onion, and a lemon, served with mashed potatoes made by
myrialux. There was Drama when I couldn't find the crockpot, which led to us opening almost every box in the house and rearranging them, and then
myrialux went by the apartments to spackle the holes in the walls and discovered that we'd left it at my place. So we cooked on Sunday, instead of Saturday.
However, I'm just tired. Physically exhausted. Went by the apartments yesterday to clear out some more stuff, and it was hell just going up and down the stairs. Cannot wait until the moment we turn the keys in.
Finished Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, and started Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Yes, I did the first game before the second, but we had a $50 Best Buy gift certificate and all they had was Diabolical Box, so I got it first. Went to Fry's on Saturday to pick up cables and keyboard and other things, and found a copy of Curious Village, so got it then. Prefer the second, as the puzzles are smoother and less reliant on tricky thinking. (Lateral thinking OK. Trying-to-fool-you not OK. Does that make sense?)
Also found in the classical CD section that a bunch of classical anthologies were on sale for $2-$3, so I bought 5 CDs of various and sundry classical pieces. :)
Continuing to think of
yuletide. Not sure I want to do it this year, as I'm behind on commissions and need to do kanzashi for my stylist and I'm already signed up for
yuletart, and am already beginning to feel vaguely resentful of demands on my time. Hmph.

When we bought our house we figured the repairs, etc. would be finished in two, three months. It's been about six. Part of this is that there are more things to fix than we had originally thought, but part of it is having workers that are "fixin' to come" and then don't show up for days on end. We've had a few people who show up when they say they will, but mostly? ...yeah, not so much.

I didn't get very far in Professor Layton and the Curious Village, which is a shame because the story seemed really rather interesting. I just found it frustrating because the puzzles either had some sort of maths in them which my brain just doesn't do (at least I perceived them as being math-y, I could be mistaken as it's been awhile since I played), or they were so fiendishly tricky that I was left wondering how the hell I was supposed to have figured them out without hints. Now if there was a game like that with more perception, memory and shape recognition puzzles it'd be far more my thing. :D

If you want to finish the game for the story's sake, I recommend Gamefaqs (http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/home/936050.html). :) I've downloaded walkthroughs for both games, as I missed several puzzles and didn't finish a couple of minigames in Diabolical Box and want to find them/finish them just to be a completist. I figure the same will happen for Curious Village, so I nabbed one from there, too.

injure meknead me with his paws, means he has to sleep between me and Toby. Poor kitten! Such a dilemma!)Toby reported that a cat spent part of the night curled up behind his knees. On top of the covers, though, so we're not sure which one it was.

The interface for Diabolical Box is better, because all the puzzles have a Memo function so you can take notes or draw on the screen, which you could only do with some of them in Curious Village.

I gave the chickens and wolves puzzle to a kid whose parents were late picking him up. He spent like half an hour working out his irritation on the chickens.
