[livejournal.com profile] badnoodles is the grateful* recipient of one of the romances I hoisted from the abandoned-books rack in the staff lounge. She chose the historical, published in 1982 (prime bodice-ripping era), and has started to read. Her report on the first part can be found here.

* Perhaps not so grateful, actually.

She gets some sort of gratification out of it, otherwise she wouldn't keep reading these things. I suppose that it's the same sort of masochism that keeps us comic book fans reading crappy storylines for the reason that "it might get better next month."

I assure you, this book is in no way gratifying. Thus far, it's been excruciatingly horrible, thus the lack of lulz in my review.

We thank you for sacrificing yourself so we don't have to.

Totally OT, but have you ever done any surveys for these guys (http://www.surveyscout.com)? *is looking to branch out from lightspeed*

I haven't, but poking around SurveyPolice.com seems to indicate that they're a par-for-play service that charges you money to give you access to surveys. http://www.surveypolice.com/surveyscout.com

They sounded kind of too good to be true. Thanks for that link.
