I want to read Shinigami Zeppelin Teacher too.

I'm scared of Idol Airship. Especially as the title probably really has a star instead of a space between the words.

There was an awesome one that had "Coffee" in it that I managed to reload before I realized I should be posting these, and I can't remember it. Woes!

Airship Mechanical Whispers
Too bad I fail at steampunk
Would be interested in doing a contest. What help would you need?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
At this point, I'm mostly in need of working out the details of what to ask for. I figure for the rest, I'd just steal [livejournal.com profile] dragonscholar's format and award 3 prizes, a $30 gift certificate to Amazon, Dick Blick, or Paypal for first place, and see if I can wheedle $20 and $10 ones for 2nd and 3rd place from my f-list.

[identity profile] rayechu.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, that I cannot help with being broke and all.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. The prize stuff was supposed to be an aside (hence the strikethrough). What I need help with is this bit:

I'm mostly in need of working out the details of what to ask for.

I meant to ask for in the contest: what are the contestants supposed to produce? "Pick a title and draw a picture" isn't specific enough and will lead to massive amounts of confusion and multiple requests for clarification. As it's a series title, what should the picture be? Promo picture? Picture of the main characters? A screenshot of a scene from an episode? A page from the manga? I shouldn't ask them for too much effort, as the prize is only $30, but I should ask for enough that it's a challenge.

[identity profile] rayechu.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
How about mock manga or anime DVD cover? Title must be included but still has the flexibility to draw almost anything you want/are inspired to.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a good possibility, but one of the things stopping me from doing that is that I kind of think I'd like to make them think about the story and/or characters a little, and I fear that a simple cover request may lead to a bunch of pin-ups with no real thought. Hrm.

I suppose there's coming up with a set of judging criteria that explicitly says that entries that show evidence of thought about that will be ranked higher. Hrm again.

[identity profile] rayechu.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm hadn't thought about that. Well... if you are making a mock cover it would be logical that you should also write the short blurb on the back telling what it is about too, right? Making the description and a cover that go together successfully might be enough to keep it from being pinups?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, you're right, that might work, thanks! XD

[identity profile] rayechu.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
No problem. Glad to be good for something today!

[identity profile] willlapuerta.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm curious, would the contestants generate their own titles or would you have an official list for them to choose from?

Oh, and, "Middle-School Yakuza Princess"

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
They'd use the generator to come up with their own titles. :)

"Androgynous Bitter Airship"

[identity profile] willlapuerta.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Excellent. An excuse to continue finding more weirdness.

"Journey to the Enchanted Monogatari"
"Let's Go! Blush Detectives"

[identity profile] rayechu.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
And you were clear it was my bad from reading when sleepy in bed.

[identity profile] maiteoida.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
I'm really digging Charming Lucky Gentlemen, haha XD Though Number Three Mechanical Academy sounds like some awesome steampunk drama...this is great!

[identity profile] m00nface.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 09:27 am (UTC)(link)
Number Three Mechanical Academy MUST be the subtitle to some giant robot anime or other, it has to be!

[identity profile] wintersweet.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah yeah, originally it was the "Title and Tagline Generator," actually...

[identity profile] ukoku.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll totally claim "Shinigami Zeppelin Teacher". I'll try to whip something up tonight.
