I have seen this webcomic starting to sprout up on my f-list, and finally got a chance to check it out: 2D Goggles. The continuing adventures of Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage.
I was sold the minute His Grace, the Duke of Wellington, rode into the room. Although I still see Wellington as portrayed by Stephen Fry in "Blackadder the Third."
Blackadder (masquerading as Prince George, discussing the War with France with Lord Wellington): "And where have you stationed Lord Nelson?"
Wellingston (spins globe): "Antarctica! In case old Boney tries coming at us across the South Pole!"
"Our kingdom is ruled by a mad Kraut sausage-sucker...and a son who can't keep his sausage to himself."
Oh yeah. Ever since seeing that, I have never been able to think of Wellington and NOT make that association. (I have to say, it made reading Naomi Novik's Victory of Eagles...interesting.)
In 1843, while performing a conjuring trick for the amusement of his children, Brunel accidentally inhaled a half-sovereign coin, which became lodged in his windpipe. A special pair of forceps failed to remove it, as did a machine devised by Brunel himself to shake it loose.
Half-sovereign coins are listed as being 19.30 mm in diameter, which is roughly 3/4 of an inch. Clearly, Brunel was so tough he could snort coin of the Realm like they were cocaine.

As a huge Brunel fan, I am waiting very eagerly to see what happens with that idea. It seems... well, not reasonable exactly... fitting?
