GRAND ANNOUNCEMENT!!
One of the reasons I've been scarce around LJ recently is that I've been working on something, and had a seriously superstitious feeling that if I talked about it, it wouldn't happen.
Well, it's happened and I can talk about it now. There's a new addition to the family. Introducing...
Sora! (Well, 'Sora' for now. If another name sticks to him, then another name sticks to him.)

Brand-spankin' new from the Humane Society this morning, all 1.9 pounds of him! Boy, 2 months old, found abandoned in a vacant lot somewhere in town the day after Christmas and taken by his finder to the Humane Society. I went there on the 30th to look for a new cat, and there he was. :) They neutered him for me as part of the adoption fee, and
myrialux and I picked him up this morning, took him by the vet to get the vaccinations he needed and to test for various things, then brought him home.
This is Nefer's current opinion of the whole situation:

He's currently quarantined in my bedroom while Nefer has the run of the rest of the apartment. She alternates sitting by me with sitting by the bedroom door and occasionally growling. It'll be a slow introduction for the two. :)
Anyway! You don't want to listen to me witter on about this! You want more pictures!!

You know how they say stressed-out kittens might not eat or drink or use the litterbox for a while? At the vet he peed on the towel I had to cover his carrier, and as soon as he saw the food and water bowls I had out, it was OM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM. With a Force 5 purr the whole time. I think he probably hadn't had anything to eat for a long time, since they probably didn't feed him yesterday because of the anesthesia. The vet says to free-feed him for a while, as he's a little underweight.

I'm out of the bedroom now, giving him a chance to calm down and maybe get some sleep. If he can. :)
I took video, too! I'll post it later.
ETA: More pics!
These are from the Humane Society, back on December 30, when I first saw him.
myrialux took them with his iPhone.

ETA2: AND NOW VIDEOS!
Eating and purring! The first purry noise is the camera's motor, not the cat. You can hear him at the very end of the video.
And
