I hope she reads the second book, as the stuff that struck me as problematic crop up then (I haven't read them, but someone else's review lit up some astonishing red lights). I should probably read them to make my own judgments but...oh, they look so very very terrible.

That was a very interesting analysis. I'm glad [livejournal.com profile] telophase pointed me to it. I'm also going to be curious to see what you think of the second book. I haven't read any, but the reactions are interesting.
