Myers-Briggs test your blog!

ESTJ - The Guardians

The organizing and efficient type. They are especially attuned to setting goals and managing available resources to get the job done. Once they´ve made up their mind on something, it can be quite difficult to convince otherwise. They listen to hard facts and can have a hard time accepting new or innovative ways of doing things.

The Guardians are often happy working in highly structured work environments where everyone knows the rules of the job. They respect authority and are loyal team players.

*dies laughing* You know, when I take the test myself, I end up INFP - the exact opposite of this. XD

Hahaha, that's brilliant! I'm also getting the exact opposite of what I am. *g*

I think it'd be interesting to compare the writings of people vs. the people themselves and see what patterns of correlation and opposition you get, if any.

I just did a nifty little experiment with that thing, by putting in two different blogs I write in and comparing the results. The first one I put in was my LJ blog, and that blog recieved a ESFP - The Performers marking--mostly written in the mode of Sensing and Feeling.

Then I tried it out on another blog I currently have for a class assignment, used as part of my seminar course that focuses on analysis of discourse in different media. The result? INTP - The Thinkers, almost off the scale in the thinking area, with a touch of sensitivity, no feeling at all.

The result really emphasizes how writing style changes depending on what someone is writing about. I have, according to this, a distinctly different voice in academic and personal modes--which is completely true! It's more about how we present ourselves then innate personality types, especially here, but I find it really amusing how different the two results were!

I got ESFP-- my opposite on everything except the P. And P-J is the one axis that I do sometimes flip on.

ESFP. I got medium scores for feeling and thinking and high scores for sensing (order/habit/details). Which is what always happens. XD; On regular Myers-Briggs tests I tend to score ENTP for reasons I have never been able to figure out, so it's not as much of a stretch from there to ESFP.

Personal journal is the same - ESFP - but I ran my blip.fm account and got:

ESFJ. The social and opiniated type. They are especially attuned to the feelings of themselves and others. They tend to be very aware of the values of their peer-group and tend to see things as either right or wrong, good or bad. They tend to be traditional and value their friends and family the most.

That is SO true about music fandom -- it's all about judging other people and trying not to seem lame!

Is broken.

Every single blog I put in there - including the seldom-updated blog of an extremely introverted guy who is depressed because he has trouble making friends - came out as an extrovert.

The people who try to be amusing and friendly came out as ESFPs. The people who try to give out a lot of information came out as ESTJs.

I wonder if it's scoring introversion from something like the proportion of locked posts? I ran mine through and got ISFP...and as you know I don't post very often to start with, and very few of those posts are public.

Hmmm ... I actually have a fair number of locked posts, but maybe not by percentage. Also, almost no one has got any N, and yet I'd swear most of us are INxx types.

Personal blog is the same as yours.

Work blog comes up like this:
ISTP - The Mechanics
[ISTP]
The independent and problem-solving type. They are especially attuned to the demands of the moment are masters of responding to challenges that arise spontaneously. They generelly prefer to think things out for themselves and often avoid inter-personal conflicts.

The Mechanics enjoy working together with other independent and highly skilled people and often like seek fun and action both in their work and personal life. They enjoy adventure and risk such as in driving race cars or working as policemen and firefighters.

My own results? INTP or INFP, depending on when I take it and what kind of mood I'm in.

I suppose this is correct for who I am as a web journalist, because I want to entertain my readers. Not so much who I am as a total person, where I'm more introverted. While talking to someone I know only online, I told her I was introverted and she didn't believe me based on how she experiences me online.

---------

ESFP - The Performers

The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead - they are always in risk of exhausting themselves.

The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation - qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.

I think you have pinpointed the issue. A lot of us are introverts who are blogging because we find it easier to communicate our enthusiasms that way - so we're all in disguise ... .

Right. Online, if people aren't interested they can just not read it. Also, they kind of come to you. In person, you have to get up in someone's face and "demand" time.

[identity profile] matildarose.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I got 'the performers', but since I mark all my entries as friends only, I doubt it's taking into account everything.

Funnily enough, everything marked as 'friends only' always get a ISTJ. A bug?

I got the same - I'm INTP. Interestingly my JF comes out as INTP though...

(LJ, why do I need to confirm I'm human when I'm logged in... ?)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Because I was hit hard by spam LJs leaving comments, I turned on the option to make non-f-list people confirm they're human. Sorry. :D

I tend to post only when I'm feeling extroverted, which, as a classic introvert, is not that often. But if all my posts are written when I'm in that mood, it's not surprising the thingamabob called my journal an ESFP.

Running some of the big blogs through it is fun though.

[identity profile] rilina.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
I also ended the exact opposite of my real type: I'm INTJ and my blog is apparently ESFP.

[identity profile] darksumomo.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
I took the test for both my LJ and my Daily Kos diary. For my LJ, I tested out as ESTP. For my Daily Kos Diary, I tested out as ENTJ. In reality, I test out as ENTJ. The irony is that I write most of the text in my LJ, but mostly quote news reports on science on Daily Kos. So, someone else's words express my personality more accurately that what I write myself? Go figure!
