I got worse on the eyeball thing the more times I played it ... .
Also - about the cats ... tortoiseshell cats are mosaics. The differently colored bits of cat have different genetics. Article here. Site contains a lot of other info - some of it quite strange - about cat characteristics and the related genetics. One of the strange bits: "This may seem an odd topic, but if you clone a tortoiseshell cat you will end up with a cat of one or other of the constituent colours and not a tortoiseshell clone" (because the cell that's used for the clone with have either the gene for red or the gene for black - not both).

Only some torties are mosaics, and that is one way to get a tortie male (getting around that whole 1 X issue).

Ohhhh. Thanks for the clarification! (Maybe someone needs to explain it to the folks at www.messybeastcom? Or maybe I totally misread their explanation ... .)

My cat is either a Brown Mackerel Torbie, or a Brown Mackerel Tabby. She has these patches of orange(or Red) on her that confuse me.
